Farewell Note to Carey Wallace
I regret to share that Carey Wallace has made the hard decision to step away from the industry to focus on her family. Carey hired me into the Ohio Insurance Agents Association in 2017 to help her build a data and analytics department for Ohio agents. Little did we know that two short years later it would catch fire and she would be leading a national insurance analytics company with six additional investor-state partners and three partner states and counting!
While she held many leadership roles over the last decade at Ohio Insurance Agents, it was the role that she has held at IntellAgents that has made the biggest impact on the broader independent insurance industry. Carey was the first CEO of IntellAgents and forged the vision and relationships that have put the company in its best position to succeed in the future. The relationships she built are her legacy and will be the large void left to fill upon her departure. She loved working with agents and having the opportunity to help them set their businesses up for success.
On a personal note, Carey has been an amazing mentor to me throughout this phase of my professional career. Moreover, she is a strong female leader in an industry still dominated by middle-aged men. Her presence will undoubtedly not be the last one that opens doors for other female leaders in the industry. She has been able to carve out a powerful voice in a short amount of time, while garnering the respect and admiration from top leaders in the industry.
While Carey is stepping away from the industry in the short-term, I have no doubt that this is not the last we have heard from her. I am excited to call her a friend and looking forward to what the next chapter of her professional career has to offer her and our industry.
